Maintenance

We take pride in keeping our gardens and cemeteries in beautiful condition.

Our skilled team of gardeners and horticulturalists carefully select and maintain plants at all of our sites, from fragrant rose and jasmine gardens, to native ground cover and established trees. Plants are selected to provide year-round colour, and create a peaceful, reflective setting so you can focus on remembering your loved ones.

Our ground staff also tend to our pathways, lawns and structures to make sure they are well-presented and safe.

By purchasing a memorial or burial site at Wollongong Memorial Gardens, you can rest assured that it will be permanent, and will receive continued care from our team for many generations, with no ongoing costs.

If you notice something that needs attention at any of our locations, please call us on (02) 4227 7780.

Maintenance of headstones and monuments

Our team looks after our gardens and cemeteries, however the maintenance of individual headstones and monuments is the responsibility of the interment right holder (in other words, the owner of the burial site). In most cases this will be the family or estate of the deceased person or people interred at the site.

Examples of the types of maintenance that are the owner's responsibility include:

  • Adding a new inscription, motif or photo
  • Repairing damaged or eroded lettering, motifs or pictures
  • Fixing structural issues.

If you need to do maintenance on a headstone or monument, you must use an approved monumental mason, and apply for approval before work begins using our Application to Carry Out Works in Cemeteries form PDF, 169.39 KB.

Please call us on (02) 4227 7780 for advice about headstone or monument maintenance.
